Where Volunteers Are Needed

Food Prep & Serving

Servers: Serve the meal buffet style.

Food Runners: Keep Servers stocked with food, (from kitchen area to dining area)

Food Prep: Cutting the Turkey, prepping the food before it is served.

Set Up & Tear Down

Setup includes helping putting tables and chairs ready for our hundreds of guests. Also, helping to keep trash cans empty, bathrooms cleaned and stocked, as well as making sure the outside area is free of cigarette butts and trash.

Also in need of a Locker Room Attendant, who will hand clean towels to our guests and maintain cleanliness of showers,

Provide Professional Services

“Vendors”: Keep table stocked with giveaway items and help our guests find the sizes/styles the want

Triage: Nurses and nurse assistants to check blood pressure, visual assessments and basic medical needs, also to distribute minor medical supplies.

Clothing & Supply Distribution

Volunteers will go through the donated clothing, organize, distribute–and of course help everyone find their proper sizes.


Church youth groups, singers, musicians are asked to donate their time to “share the warmth” of the holiday spirit through music.


We have limited our volunteer registration in 2018 to the first 100 volunteers to register. Registration is currently closed. If we have any available volunteer openings, the site will be open on October 14th at 1p

NEW!  Additional Information:

  • All registered volunteers will be contacted at least one week before the event.  (If, for some reason you are not contacted by 5pm on December 16,  please feel free to call Gary Rivers at 330-649-1954.
  • Dress: Let’s call it, “Christmas Casual”.  Jeans are fine.  Santa caps are welcome!
  • All volunteers will be admitted through a special “Volunteer Entrance” of The Salvation Army,  420 Market Ave S, Canton, OH 44702
  • Volunteers will each be given a volunteer t-shirt and color-coded name tag when they arrive and will be assigned to a specific area. Volunteers will be sent to the area coordinator for assignments.
  • Wearing the volunteer t-shirt is not mandatory, but is appreciated.
  • Please, no volunteers under the age of 18.
